The R-991 rounded stones are hand-selected to resemble river stones from great rapids — they produce a softer, gentler steam than angular split-face stones, as water flows smoothly to the lower layers and reaches a larger surface area. Best used in the upper layers of heaters with larger stone capacities, with angular stones in the bottom layers for optimal performance.

Note: Each natural stone is unique. Purchasing one extra box is recommended to allow you to select the best stones for fit and placement.
