Sedona vs. Cazo vs. Maya: Choosing the Right Outdoor Plus Fire Bowl

The Outdoor Plus makes the most comprehensive residential fire bowl lineup available — three series (Sedona, Cazo, Maya), four finish types (hammered copper, GFRC concrete, GFRC wood grain, powder coat), and fire-only or fire-and-water configurations for most models. Navigating all the options can feel overwhelming. This guide cuts through it.

The Core Distinction: Shape

The most fundamental choice is shape — and it's driven by your outdoor design aesthetic, not personal preference alone.

  • Sedona: Round bowl. Organic, natural, pairs with curved furniture, Mediterranean hardscape, and organic landscape design.
  • Cazo: Square bowl. Geometric, contemporary, pairs with rectilinear furniture, linear hardscape, and modern outdoor design.
  • Maya: Round bowl, deeper profile, more expressive form. The most dramatic visual presence of the three series.

If your outdoor space is primarily straight lines, right angles, and modern furniture — Cazo. If it's more curved, natural, or Mediterranean — Sedona or Maya. If you want maximum visual impact and don't mind a more expressive aesthetic — Maya in hammered copper is unmatched.

The Four Finish Options

Hammered Copper

The most distinctive finish in the lineup. Hand-hammered patina copper develops a living patina over time — the color deepens, the surface becomes more complex, and no two bowls look identical after a season outdoors. This is the finish that gets the most comments from guests.

Available in: Sedona (27"), Cazo (24" and 30"), Maya (24", 30", 36"). Fire-only and fire-and-water configurations available.

GFRC Concrete

Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete gives the premium look of architectural concrete at a fraction of the weight, with superior durability. Available in multiple color tones — Black, Chestnut, Gray, Ash, Brown, Ivory — that coordinate with a wide range of outdoor design palettes.

GFRC is the finish for design-forward outdoor spaces where material quality and color precision matter. It's also the most weather-resistant option — GFRC resists cracking, UV fading, and freeze-thaw cycles better than traditional concrete.

Available in: Sedona (27", 33"), Cazo (24", 31", 36"), Maya (24", 30", 36"). Fire-only and fire-and-water configurations available.

GFRC Wood Grain

GFRC with a realistic wood grain surface texture in Ebony, Ivory, or Oak tones. The organic warmth of wood without any of wood's maintenance demands — no sealing, no weatherproofing, no degradation. Pairs beautifully with teak furniture, timber decking, and natural stone hardscape.

Available in: Sedona (27"), Cazo (24", 32"), Maya (24", 30"). Fire-only and fire-and-water configurations available.

Powder Coat

The most versatile finish option. 30+ powder coat colors — from understated Matte Black and Gray to bold Copper Vein, Silver Vein, Sapphire Blue, and more — let you precisely match or complement your existing outdoor color palette. Powder coat is durable, UV-resistant, and the only finish option that gives you full color customization.

Available across all three series in multiple sizes. Both fire-only and fire-and-water configurations available.

Fire-Only vs. Fire and Water

Every series offers fire-only models (gas flame only) and fire-and-water models (simultaneous gas flame and gravity-spill water cascading over the rim). The fire-and-water configurations add a significant dimension to the experience — the sound of moving water, the visual contrast of fire and water simultaneously, and the meditative quality of a water feature.

Fire-and-water models require a connection to a water supply (garden hose connection) and a drain or recirculation system. If your installation location doesn't have easy water access, the fire-only version is simpler to install and operate.

Pricing: fire-and-water models are approximately $400–$800 more than fire-only equivalents, plus the additional installation cost of a water supply line.

Ignition Options

Most models are available in Match Lit (simplest, lowest cost) or Low Voltage Electronic Ignition (push-button start). Electronic ignition adds approximately $1,500–$2,000 to the purchase price but eliminates the need to manually light the burner.

For most residential buyers, Match Lit is perfectly functional — you use a long-reach lighter, the flame catches in seconds, and the process is simple. Electronic ignition makes the most sense if the bowl will be used very frequently, by elderly users, or in situations where manual lighting is inconvenient.

Sizing Guide

  • 24" bowl: Compact spaces, secondary accent feature, balcony or intimate seating area
  • 27–30" bowl: Standard residential patio, primary fire feature for a 4–6 person seating area
  • 32–36" bowl: Large patios, pool surrounds, commercial spaces, or when you want a statement piece

All Outdoor Plus fire bowls are made in the USA and ship within 2–3 weeks (made to order). LP or Natural Gas — specify at purchase. Browse the full fire bowl collection here.
